Direct messages on Supper
How DMs work for supporters, creators, commissions, and custom offers, and why they should not be used for confidential information.
Important: Supper DMs are not end-to-end encrypted (E2EE). Although they are not public, Supper's systems can process and store their contents. Do not use Supper DMs for confidential or highly sensitive information, such as passwords, payment card details, government IDs, medical information, or private encryption keys.
Supper DMs are designed around support relationships. Supporters can message about eligible purchases and commissions, and creators can send custom commission offers in a DM.
When a message is about a commission or custom offer, Supper should show a contextual card so the creator knows what the supporter is referring to.
Access-controlled, not E2EE
- DM text, custom offer terms, commission briefs, and attachments stay off public feeds and are stored by Supper.
- Treat DMs as non-public app messages, not as a secure channel for confidential information.
- Support history belongs in contextual profile and support-history views, not in public chat previews.
- Unread chats should be clearly marked so creators can find new messages quickly.
